5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of T. Frank Smith IV on March 23, 2023, at |

7 | 7 | | the age of 71; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of T. Frank Smith Jr. and Joanne Scherer |
---|
9 | 9 | | Smith, Frank Smith was born in Brownsville on August 19, 1951; as a |
---|
10 | 10 | | child, he moved with his family to Corpus Christi, and he was a |
---|
11 | 11 | | member of the Class of 1969 at Ray High School; he went on to earn a |
---|
12 | 12 | | bachelor's degree in geology from The University of Texas at |
---|
13 | 13 | | Austin; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his graduation in 1974, Mr. Smith joined |
---|
15 | 15 | | the family business at KRIS-TV, where he served in a variety of |
---|
16 | 16 | | roles, including as sales executive, design and advertising |
---|
17 | 17 | | manager, and vice president; in addition, he was a successful real |
---|
18 | 18 | | estate investor, developer, and entrepreneur, owning and managing a |
---|
19 | 19 | | number of businesses and properties in the Corpus Christi area; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for his community, Mr. Smith |
---|
21 | 21 | | gave generously of his time and talents to such charitable and civic |
---|
22 | 22 | | organizations as the Downtown Lions Club, the Sunrise Rotary Club, |
---|
23 | 23 | | the Palmer Drug Abuse Program, the Texas State Museum of Asian |
---|
24 | 24 | | Cultures, and the Art Museum of South Texas; sustained by a deep |
---|
25 | 25 | | faith, he was a valued congregant of First Christian Church of |
---|
26 | 26 | | Portland, where he served as an elder; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Smith enjoyed the love and |
---|
28 | 28 | | support of his wife, Linda, with whom he shared a fulfilling union |
---|
29 | 29 | | that spanned 32 years; he took great pride in his two sons, Frank |
---|
30 | 30 | | and Paul, as well as in his "bonus daughter," Leslie, and he |
---|
31 | 31 | | delighted in time spent with his nine grandchildren; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, the passage of |
---|
33 | 33 | | time will never diminish the joy and love that Frank Smith brought |
---|
34 | 34 | | into the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of T. Frank Smith IV |
---|
37 | 37 | | and extend condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, |
---|
38 | 38 | | Linda K. Jordan; to his children, T. Frank Smith V and his wife, |

39 | 39 | | Rebecca, Paul Smith and his wife, Jennifer, and Leslie Jordan |
