55 WHEREAS, Students, faculty, and staff of Texas State
66 Technical College are gathering in Austin on April 19, 2023, to
77 celebrate Texas State Technical College Day at the State Capitol;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, Established in 1965, Texas State Technical College
1010 is a two-year technical training institution focused on advanced
1111 and emerging technologies; TSTC offers numerous associate's
1212 degrees and certificates across a variety of program areas to
1313 assist in developing a job-ready workforce; and
1414 WHEREAS, TSTC boasts 10 campuses across the state, including
1515 locations in Abilene, Breckenridge, Brownwood, Fort Bend County,
1616 Harlingen, Marshall, North Texas, Sweetwater, Waco, and Williamson
1717 County; through the years, the college has seen an increase in
1818 overall enrollment, awards conferred, and job placements, and it
1919 has adopted an accountability-based model in which funds received
2020 by the school are determined by student earnings and associated
2121 state tax revenues; and
2222 WHEREAS, Texas State Technical College provides Texans with
2323 the opportunity to attain leading-edge technical skills and
2424 knowledge, to the great benefit of the students, their families,
2525 and the State of Texas, and it is indeed fitting to recognize the
2626 school for its contributions to the economic advancement of the
2727 Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2929 Legislature hereby recognize April 19, 2023, as Texas State
3030 Technical College Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome
3131 to the visiting delegation.
