5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Charley Phelps Peck of Weatherford on April 9, 2023, at |
---|
7 | 7 | | the age of 62; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Lola and Loman Peck, Charley Peck was born |
---|
9 | 9 | | on February 11, 1961, in Paducah, Kentucky, and he grew up with two |
---|
10 | 10 | | sisters, Lo'Anne and Loma; he attended Reidland High School, where |
---|
11 | 11 | | he played basketball and football, and following his graduation in |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1979, he continued his education at Murray State University; he was |
---|
13 | 13 | | a member of the university's football team and joined Alpha Tau |
---|
14 | 14 | | Omega before graduating with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and |
---|
15 | 15 | | biology; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Peck enjoyed a successful career in the chemical |
---|
17 | 17 | | industry; he worked for two decades with Brenntag, and most |
---|
18 | 18 | | recently, he served as president of Cooper Natural Resources; |
---|
19 | 19 | | active in his community, he gave of his time and talents to the Pine |
---|
20 | 20 | | Tree Independent School District Board of Trustees, the Hiway 80 |
---|
21 | 21 | | Rescue Mission, and Parker County Emergency Service District 7; he |
---|
22 | 22 | | was also a deacon at First Baptist Church in Longview and later |
---|
23 | 23 | | taught Sunday school at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford; |
---|
24 | 24 | | and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Peck was deeply devoted to his |
---|
26 | 26 | | wife, Sherry, and to his children, Preston and Morgan; he was quick |
---|
27 | 27 | | to offer his kids encouragement and was present for all of their |
---|
28 | 28 | | activities, coaching teams and attending recitals; later in life, |
---|
29 | 29 | | he had the joy of welcoming into his family a daughter-in-law, |
---|
30 | 30 | | Abbey, and a son-in-law, Trey, who he considered as his own |
---|
31 | 31 | | children; in his leisure time, he could often be found outdoors, |
---|
32 | 32 | | taking part in cookouts and hunting trips, and his life was further |
---|
33 | 33 | | enriched by the companionship of his favorite hunting dog, Stick; |
---|
34 | 34 | | and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Although Charley Peck is deeply missed, those who |
---|
36 | 36 | | were privileged to share in this esteemed man's love and friendship |
---|
37 | 37 | | will always remember him with great admiration and affection; now, |

38 | 38 | | therefore, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charley Phelps Peck |
---|
41 | 41 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |

42 | 42 | | wife, Sherry Peck; to his son, Preston Peck, and his wife, Abbey; to |

43 | 43 | | his daughter, Morgan Gregory, and her husband, Trey; to his sister, |

44 | 44 | | Lo'Anne Peck, and Jeff Shuemaker; and to his other relatives and |
