5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter in Fort Bend County |

6 | 6 | | was chartered in the fall of 2022, and in keeping with the proud |

7 | 7 | | tradition of its parent organization, its members are devoting |

8 | 8 | | themselves to benefiting their fellow citizens; and |

9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The chapter is an affiliate of Zeta Phi Beta |

10 | 10 | | Sorority, Inc., a historically Black organization established in |
---|
11 | 11 | | 1920 at Howard University; its five founding women envisioned a |
---|
12 | 12 | | sorority that would raise public consciousness, encourage the |
---|
13 | 13 | | highest standards of scholastic achievement, and promote unity |
---|
14 | 14 | | among its members; with hundreds of chapters worldwide, Zeta Phi |
---|
15 | 15 | | Beta plays a vital role in transforming communities through |
---|
16 | 16 | | volunteer service and by fostering efforts to bring about social |
---|
17 | 17 | | and civic change; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter was approved for |

19 | 19 | | charter by the international president of Zeta Phi Beta on |
---|
20 | 20 | | September 13, 2022, and the group celebrated its founding with an |

21 | 21 | | event on November 4 in Sugar Land; the Fort Bend Zetas are dedicated |

22 | 22 | | to serving area residents by offering a wide range of community |
---|
23 | 23 | | services, assisting those in need, and providing scholarships to |
---|
24 | 24 | | deserving students; and |

25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The chapter's charter members are Tashi Hickman, |

26 | 26 | | Natashia Williams, Shana Gunner, Stephanie Wilson, Donna Hodge, Na |

27 | 27 | | Toshia Joseph, Tawana Lemon, Debra Luckett, Sojourner N. McLemore, |

28 | 28 | | Veronica Simmons, Chandalyn Williams, Lynette Brown, Affton A. |

29 | 29 | | Coleman, Meredith Elvoit, and Wynona Bonner; and |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta |
