| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Joseph Emmett on April 13, 2023, at the age of 76; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Joe Emmett was born on January 30, 1947, in Dallas; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | during his youth, he served as an altar boy and took part in Scouts |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | BSA Troop No. 110, and he attended Bishop Dunne Catholic School; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | after graduating from North Texas State University, he returned to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | his hometown; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Emmett became the youngest Master Plumber in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | state and started his own business, Emmett Plumbing; after |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | relocating to Huntsville in 1970, he continued to grow his company |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and served as a vocational teacher for the Windham School District; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | active in his community, he represented Ward 1 on the Huntsville |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | City Council for nearly a decade; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, Mr. Emmett shared a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | rewarding marriage with his wife, Judy, that spanned 52 years, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | he took great pride in his daughter, D'Anne, and his grandchildren, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Samantha and Emmett; a man of faith, he was a longtime member of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church of Huntsville; he enjoyed |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | hunting and fishing in his leisure time; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although Joe Emmett is deeply missed, he has left |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joseph Emmett and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Judy Emmett; to his daughter, D'Anne; to his grandchildren, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Samantha and Emmett; to his brother, Ross Emmett; to his sisters, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Josephine Smith and Mary Ann Behan and her husband, John; and to his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 35 | 35 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Emmett. |
