| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, North Texas police officer Justin Delacruz has |

| 6 | 6 | | contributed greatly to promoting positive relations between |

| 7 | 7 | | members of law enforcement and the communities they serve through |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | his work with the Patrol Stories program; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Justin Delacruz is the founder and CEO of Patrol |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Stories; a full-time law enforcement officer, as well as an author, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | speaker, and entrepreneur, he established the program to create |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | opportunities for police departments to engage with citizens, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | particularly children, in an entertaining, interactive, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | educational way; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Patrol Stories is a live presentation that |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | incorporates interactive video elements; the program's star and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | official mascot is the character of Officer Maxwell, who was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | designed to provide younger community members with a positive role |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | model who embodies hope, trust, friendship, and respect; the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | presentations are staged by Officer Delacruz and take place in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | elementary schools across the state; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Each year, more than 60,000 children enjoy Patrol |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Stories presentations; student participants are encouraged to get |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | involved and work together to answer questions as they learn |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | valuable lessons about what to do in an emergency and about the job |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of a police officer and the importance of believing in themselves |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and looking out for others; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Justin Delacruz's outstanding work with Patrol |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Stories has helped police departments enhance their youth outreach |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and community policing efforts, and in so doing, he has contributed |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to making communities stronger and safer for all; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commend Officer Justin Delacruz for his work |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | with Patrol Stories and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | continued success with the program; and, be it further |
