| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Katharine Watson has been named the 2023 Teacher of |

| 6 | 6 | | the Year at McKinney High School in the McKinney Independent School |

| 7 | 7 | | District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Katie Watson joined the faculty of McKinney High |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School in 1997, and over the course of her 26-year tenure, she has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | fostered the personal and academic growth of many young Texans; she |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | currently teaches forensic science and serves as the head cross |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | country coach as well as the assistant coach for distance track and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | swim; moreover, she sponsors the school's chemistry club; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Katie Watson exemplifies the passion, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Katharine Watson on her selection |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as the 2023 Teacher of the Year at McKinney High School and extend |

| 25 | 25 | | to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
