44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
66 passing of Lisa Renee Stacey Townsend of Tomball on March 18, 2023,
77 at the age of 62; and
88 WHEREAS, The daughter of Leon and Marilyn Newell Stacey, the
99 former Lisa Stacey was born in Mobile, Alabama, on September 2,
1010 1960; during her freshman year at Spring High School, she met her
1111 future husband, Derek Townsend; the couple exchanged wedding vows
1212 on August 15, 1981, and they went on to share a rewarding marriage
1313 that spanned more than four decades; she took great pride in their
1414 son, Derek, and with the passing years, their cherished family grew
1515 to include three grandchildren, Ryker, Kason, and Charlotte; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mrs. Townsend attended Lamar University, where she
1717 was a pledge trainer and president of the Delta Lambda chapter of
1818 Delta Zeta Sorority; she worked as an accountant in Beaumont and
1919 opened the Gifts from the Heart gift shop with her sister Winnie;
2020 later settling with her family in Tomball, Mrs. Townsend played an
2121 active role in the community; she ran her husband's campaign for
2222 local office and represented District 130 as a delegate at the
2323 Republican State Convention on several occasions; she was also an
2424 original member of the Yellow Rose of Texas Republican Women and
2525 served the organization in several capacities, including as
2626 president; and
2727 WHEREAS, A woman of devout faith, Mrs. Townsend was a Sunday
2828 school teacher at Champion Forest Baptist Church and a longtime
2929 member of the Christian Women's Club, and she served on the board of
3030 Rosehill Christian School; she later joined First Baptist Church in
3131 Tomball and co-chaired its greeting ministry; in her leisure time,
3232 she loved to cook and entertain friends and family, and she took
3333 pleasure in traveling, especially to the beach; and
3434 WHEREAS, Lisa Townsend lived a caring and purposeful life
3535 centered around her family, her faith, and her community, and she
3636 will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those she leaves
3737 behind; now, therefore, be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3939 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lisa Renee Stacey
4040 Townsend and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
4141 family: to her husband, Derek Townsend Sr.; to her son, Derek
4242 Townsend II, and his wife, Alex; to her father, Leon Stacey Sr.; to
4343 her siblings, Leon Stacey Jr. and Winnie Stacey; to her
4444 grandchildren, Ryker James, Kason Scott, and Charlotte Blake; and
4545 to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4848 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lisa
4949 Townsend.
