5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Lisa Renee Stacey Townsend of Tomball on March 18, 2023, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 62; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Leon and Marilyn Newell Stacey, the |
---|
9 | 9 | | former Lisa Stacey was born in Mobile, Alabama, on September 2, |
---|
10 | 10 | | 1960; during her freshman year at Spring High School, she met her |
---|
11 | 11 | | future husband, Derek Townsend; the couple exchanged wedding vows |
---|
12 | 12 | | on August 15, 1981, and they went on to share a rewarding marriage |
---|
13 | 13 | | that spanned more than four decades; she took great pride in their |
---|
14 | 14 | | son, Derek, and with the passing years, their cherished family grew |
---|
15 | 15 | | to include three grandchildren, Ryker, Kason, and Charlotte; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Townsend attended Lamar University, where she |
---|
17 | 17 | | was a pledge trainer and president of the Delta Lambda chapter of |
---|
18 | 18 | | Delta Zeta Sorority; she worked as an accountant in Beaumont and |
---|
19 | 19 | | opened the Gifts from the Heart gift shop with her sister Winnie; |
---|
20 | 20 | | later settling with her family in Tomball, Mrs. Townsend played an |
---|
21 | 21 | | active role in the community; she ran her husband's campaign for |
---|
22 | 22 | | local office and represented District 130 as a delegate at the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Republican State Convention on several occasions; she was also an |
---|
24 | 24 | | original member of the Yellow Rose of Texas Republican Women and |
---|
25 | 25 | | served the organization in several capacities, including as |
---|
26 | 26 | | president; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A woman of devout faith, Mrs. Townsend was a Sunday |
---|
28 | 28 | | school teacher at Champion Forest Baptist Church and a longtime |
---|
29 | 29 | | member of the Christian Women's Club, and she served on the board of |
---|
30 | 30 | | Rosehill Christian School; she later joined First Baptist Church in |
---|
31 | 31 | | Tomball and co-chaired its greeting ministry; in her leisure time, |
---|
32 | 32 | | she loved to cook and entertain friends and family, and she took |
---|
33 | 33 | | pleasure in traveling, especially to the beach; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Lisa Townsend lived a caring and purposeful life |
---|
35 | 35 | | centered around her family, her faith, and her community, and she |
---|
36 | 36 | | will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those she leaves |
---|
37 | 37 | | behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lisa Renee Stacey |

40 | 40 | | Townsend and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |

41 | 41 | | family: to her husband, Derek Townsend Sr.; to her son, Derek |

42 | 42 | | Townsend II, and his wife, Alex; to her father, Leon Stacey Sr.; to |

43 | 43 | | her siblings, Leon Stacey Jr. and Winnie Stacey; to her |
