| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two decades; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and football |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to earn |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | an A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | field of education in his retirement; he currently works as a search |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that assists school |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | districts across the state in vetting and selecting superintendent |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | candidates; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many young |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Saul Hinojosa on his retirement |

| 28 | 28 | | as superintendent of the Somerset Independent School District and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
