44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent of
66 the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a close an
77 outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two decades; and
88 WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in the
99 region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as a
1010 teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at
1111 Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and football
1212 and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role of
1313 superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able
1414 leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to earn
1515 an A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency; and
1616 WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in the
1717 field of education in his retirement; he currently works as a search
1818 consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that assists school
1919 districts across the state in vetting and selecting superintendent
2020 candidates; and
2121 WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
2222 commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many young
2323 Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and
2424 his contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to
2525 come; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Saul Hinojosa on his retirement
2828 as superintendent of the Somerset Independent School District and
2929 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
3030 further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3232 prepared for Dr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard by the
3333 Texas House of Representatives.
