5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Our communities draw immeasurable strength from |

6 | 6 | | individuals such as Carlos Javier Jasso, who has demonstrated a |

7 | 7 | | longstanding commitment to the Rio Grande Valley; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Edinburg, Mr. Jasso |
---|
9 | 9 | | graduated from Edinburg North High School and went on to earn a |
---|
10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree in economics from The University of Texas-Pan |
---|
11 | 11 | | American in 2006; while attending the university, he served as a |
---|
12 | 12 | | congressional intern in the office of former U.S. Representative |
---|
13 | 13 | | Rubén Hinojosa, and he developed a passion for public service; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After graduating, Mr. Jasso worked as an accountant |
---|
15 | 15 | | and junior supervisor with the Hidalgo County Community Service |
---|
16 | 16 | | Agency; he later became a program manager with the Hidalgo County |
---|
17 | 17 | | Urban County Program in Pharr, and over the course of his tenure, he |
---|
18 | 18 | | helped countless residents acquire affordable housing; he became an |
---|
19 | 19 | | accountant and supervisor for Hidalgo County in 2013, and five |
---|
20 | 20 | | years later, he accepted a position as grants director with the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; from 2020 to |
---|
22 | 22 | | 2022, he served as a safety manager for Econ Group LLC in Edinburg; |
---|
23 | 23 | | and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jasso has earned a number of certifications from |
---|
25 | 25 | | the National Association of Purchasing Management, the Texas A&M |
---|
26 | 26 | | Texas Engineering Extension Service, the National Community |
---|
27 | 27 | | Development Association, and the Occupational Safety and Health |
---|
28 | 28 | | Administration Outreach Training Program; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Through his professional accomplishments and civic |
---|
30 | 30 | | engagement, Carlos Jasso has helped to make the Rio Grande Valley a |
---|
31 | 31 | | better place for all, and he has earned the lasting admiration and |
---|
32 | 32 | | appreciation of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby honor Carlos Javier Jasso for his contributions |
---|
35 | 35 | | to the Rio Grande Valley community and extend to him sincere best |
---|
36 | 36 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
