5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Yeonopolus is retiring as chancellor of Central |
---|
6 | 6 | | Texas College on August 31, 2023, drawing to a close a distinguished |
---|
7 | 7 | | tenure with the school that has spanned five decades; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Yeonopolus first joined Central Texas College |
---|
9 | 9 | | (CTC) in 1973 as a counselor in the student services department; he |
---|
10 | 10 | | went on to hold several leadership positions at the college, |
---|
11 | 11 | | including dean, assistant deputy chancellor, and deputy chancellor |
---|
12 | 12 | | before being officially appointed as chancellor on November 19, |
---|
13 | 13 | | 2015; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career with CTC, |
---|
15 | 15 | | Mr. Yeonopolus has distinguished himself through his tireless |
---|
16 | 16 | | efforts to advance the school's mission of providing quality |
---|
17 | 17 | | education, training, and support services to a diverse student |
---|
18 | 18 | | population; with its central campus located in Killeen, CTC offers |
---|
19 | 19 | | programs and services at multiple sites worldwide, including to |
---|
20 | 20 | | members of the military; a Vietnam veteran, Mr. Yeonopolus has |
---|
21 | 21 | | played an integral part in furthering the school's commitment to |
---|
22 | 22 | | offering educational opportunities to service members and their |
---|
23 | 23 | | families; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator holds a master's degree |
---|
25 | 25 | | from the University of Arizona, a bachelor's degree from Texas |
---|
26 | 26 | | State University, and an associate's degree from Temple College; |
---|
27 | 27 | | active in his professional community, he has given generously of |
---|
28 | 28 | | his time and talents to the Council of College and Military |
---|
29 | 29 | | Educators, which honored him with a William E. Kennedy Award, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on |
---|
31 | 31 | | Colleges; a member of the Vietnamese Airborne Division Association, |
---|
32 | 32 | | he was recognized as the 2008 Airborne Man of the Year, and he |
---|
33 | 33 | | received a 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation by U.S. |
---|
34 | 34 | | Congressman John Carter; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Through his skillful leadership and commitment to |
---|
36 | 36 | | excellence, Jim Yeonopolus has greatly benefited Central Texas |
---|
37 | 37 | | College, and his contributions will continue to resonate in the |
---|
38 | 38 | | years to come; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Yeonopolus on his retirement as |
---|
41 | 41 | | chancellor of Central Texas College and extend to him sincere best |
---|
42 | 42 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

44 | 44 | | prepared for Mr. Yeonopolus as an expression of high regard by the |
