| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard L. Jackson concluded his service as the |

| 6 | 6 | | county judge of Wilson County in December 2022 after presiding over |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the commissioners court for eight years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, First taking office on January 1, 2015, "Dickie" |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Jackson served his fellow citizens with distinction throughout his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | tenure; his many accomplishments included overseeing the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | completion of the restoration project for the county's historic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | courthouse and providing the decisive vote in 2018 to approve the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | purchase of the former Wilson County Show Barn, which provided a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | venue for food distribution and vaccine administration during the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | COVID-19 pandemic; he also worked closely with the county |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | commissioners to accomplish the precinct redistricting process in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 2021; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Raised in Stockdale, Mr. Jackson worked in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | construction and oil industries and as a ranch employee before |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | becoming a deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office; he went |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on to serve as the justice of the peace for Precinct 4 in Wilson |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | County for 12 years; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Jackson more time to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | enjoy his hobbies of hunting and fishing and to travel with his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | wife, Valerie; he also plans to continue to raise cattle and to take |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | an active role in the South Central Texas Independent Cattlemen's |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Association; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | good governance, Dickie Jackson contributed immeasurably to his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | community, and in so doing, he earned the respect and appreciation |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of area residents; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Richard L. Jackson for his service as |
