| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Daun Griffen of Scott Johnson Middle School has been |

| 6 | 6 | | named the 2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year in the McKinney |

| 7 | 7 | | Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Daun Griffen has been a McKinney ISD faculty member |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for 10 years, and she currently teaches professional communication, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | health, and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | coursework at Scott Johnson Middle School; she draws on two decades |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of experience as an educator, including 13 years as a special |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | education teacher; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Daun Griffen exemplifies the passion, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Daun Griffen on her selection as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the 2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year in the McKinney Independent |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |

| 26 | 26 | | success with her important work; and, be it further |
