44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Ray Raymond is retiring from the Trinity Valley
66 Community College Board of Trustees in 2023, drawing to a close more
77 than two decades of exemplary service to the institution; and
88 WHEREAS, A former student at TVCC, Mr. Raymond has served as
99 president of the college's board for eight years; under his
1010 leadership, the board has ably met its many responsibilities, which
1111 include defining the vision of the college, serving as a liaison
1212 between the campus and the community, and setting policies; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Raymond has further contributed to his fellow
1414 citizens through his involvement with the Kaufman County Children's
1515 Shelter, Single Appraisal District Board, and Committee on Aging,
1616 as well as the Kaufman Presbyterian Hospital board and Economic
1717 Development Corporation; he also played an instrumental role in
1818 establishing the Kaufman County Solid Waste Management
1919 Cooperative, Leadership Council, and Veterans' Memorial Park; he
2020 was named the 1996 Citizen of the Year by the Kaufman Chamber of
2121 Commerce, and he received the prestigious American FFA Degree from
2222 the National FFA Organization; sustained by his deep faith, he is a
2323 longtime member of First Baptist Church; and
2424 WHEREAS, Now retired, Mr. Raymond enjoyed a rewarding career
2525 with Kaufman County Electric Cooperative, Inc., which he served as
2626 general manager for three decades; his many achievements in that
2727 role included overseeing a merger to form Trinity Valley Electric
2828 Cooperative, Inc., and along the way, he organized Rayburn Electric
2929 Cooperative in Rockwall and served on the Texas Electric
3030 Cooperatives Board as well as Southwestern Power Administration's
3131 Seven State Committee; a proud veteran, he was a member of the 49th
3232 Armored Division, which was mobilized during the Berlin Crisis in
3333 1961; and
3434 WHEREAS, Ray Raymond's dedication, hard work, and commitment
3535 to excellence have greatly benefited the mission of Trinity Valley
3636 Community College and earned him the respect and admiration of the
3737 campus's faculty, staff, and students, and he may indeed reflect
3838 with pride on his many contributions; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4040 Legislature hereby commend Ray Raymond for his many years of
4141 service on the Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees
4242 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
4343 further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4545 prepared for Mr. Raymond as an expression of high regard by the
4646 Texas House of Representatives.
