5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ray Raymond is retiring from the Trinity Valley |
---|
6 | 6 | | Community College Board of Trustees in 2023, drawing to a close more |
---|
7 | 7 | | than two decades of exemplary service to the institution; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A former student at TVCC, Mr. Raymond has served as |
---|
9 | 9 | | president of the college's board for eight years; under his |
---|
10 | 10 | | leadership, the board has ably met its many responsibilities, which |
---|
11 | 11 | | include defining the vision of the college, serving as a liaison |
---|
12 | 12 | | between the campus and the community, and setting policies; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Raymond has further contributed to his fellow |
---|
14 | 14 | | citizens through his involvement with the Kaufman County Children's |
---|
15 | 15 | | Shelter, Single Appraisal District Board, and Committee on Aging, |
---|
16 | 16 | | as well as the Kaufman Presbyterian Hospital board and Economic |
---|
17 | 17 | | Development Corporation; he also played an instrumental role in |
---|
18 | 18 | | establishing the Kaufman County Solid Waste Management |
---|
19 | 19 | | Cooperative, Leadership Council, and Veterans' Memorial Park; he |
---|
20 | 20 | | was named the 1996 Citizen of the Year by the Kaufman Chamber of |
---|
21 | 21 | | Commerce, and he received the prestigious American FFA Degree from |
---|
22 | 22 | | the National FFA Organization; sustained by his deep faith, he is a |
---|
23 | 23 | | longtime member of First Baptist Church; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Now retired, Mr. Raymond enjoyed a rewarding career |
---|
25 | 25 | | with Kaufman County Electric Cooperative, Inc., which he served as |
---|
26 | 26 | | general manager for three decades; his many achievements in that |
---|
27 | 27 | | role included overseeing a merger to form Trinity Valley Electric |
---|
28 | 28 | | Cooperative, Inc., and along the way, he organized Rayburn Electric |
---|
29 | 29 | | Cooperative in Rockwall and served on the Texas Electric |
---|
30 | 30 | | Cooperatives Board as well as Southwestern Power Administration's |
---|
31 | 31 | | Seven State Committee; a proud veteran, he was a member of the 49th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Armored Division, which was mobilized during the Berlin Crisis in |
---|
33 | 33 | | 1961; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Ray Raymond's dedication, hard work, and commitment |
---|
35 | 35 | | to excellence have greatly benefited the mission of Trinity Valley |
---|
36 | 36 | | Community College and earned him the respect and admiration of the |
---|
37 | 37 | | campus's faculty, staff, and students, and he may indeed reflect |
---|
38 | 38 | | with pride on his many contributions; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby commend Ray Raymond for his many years of |
---|
41 | 41 | | service on the Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees |
---|
42 | 42 | | and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
---|
