| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In their inaugural season of competition, members of |

| 6 | 6 | | the boys' and girls' swim teams from East Chambers High School in |

| 7 | 7 | | Winnie distinguished themselves with their fine showing at the 2023 |

| 8 | 8 | | University Interscholastic League District 10-4A Championship; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Competing in Beaumont on January 21, the Buccaneer |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | swimmers turned in a strong performance at the program's first |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | district meet; the boys' team was paced in the individual events by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Brandt Meaux, who picked up gold medals in the 100-yard butterfly |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and 500-yard freestyle; Reid Todd captured the gold in the 50-yard |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | freestyle and silver in the 100-yard backstroke competitions, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Hayden LaVeck earned top honors in the 200-yard freestyle and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | claimed the silver medal in the 100-yard freestyle; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The East Chambers boys' team performed especially |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | well in the relay events, with the 200-yard medley and 200-yard |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | freestyle squads each taking first place; moreover, Matthew Reddell |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, and Garrett Reves was |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sixth in the 50-yard freestyle; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Buccaneers girls' team was represented at the |

| 23 | 23 | | district competition by Celia Valenzuela Ranz, who secured fifth |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | place in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, and by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Mallory Kahla, who finished in 11th place in the 50-yard freestyle |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and in eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through their hard work and dedication, the members |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the Buccaneers swim teams have brought great credit to their |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | school and their community, and they may indeed take pride in their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the East Chambers High School boys' |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and girls' swim teams on their performance at the 2023 UIL District |

| 34 | 34 | | 10-4A Championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for the |
