| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Brian Woods is retiring as superintendent of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Northside Independent School District in June 2023, drawing to a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | close more than three decades of dedicated service to the district; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Woods began his career as a social studies |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | teacher, and he went on to excel in a variety of administrative |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | roles, including assistant principal, vice principal, principal, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Since being appointed superintendent in 2012, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Dr. Woods has provided exemplary leadership to Northside ISD during |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | an era of notable growth; he has overseen the addition of 13 new |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | schools and 5 specialized magnet programs in the district, and he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | helped achieve voter approval for three bond measures totaling more |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | than $2.4 billion to fund facility renovations and improvements; as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | he concludes his tenure, Northside ISD is the state's fourth |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | largest school district, serving over 102,000 students with a staff |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of 14,000 employees; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding achievements, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Dr. Woods was named the 2018 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association of School Boards; he has further contributed to his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | professional community in his role as president of the Texas School |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Alliance; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, With his vision, expertise, and commitment to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | excellence, Brian Woods has greatly benefited the educational |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | mission of the Northside Independent School District, and he may |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | indeed reflect with pride on his many contributions as he begins the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Brian Woods on his retirement |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | from the Northside Independent School District and extend to him |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
