| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 70th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | cause for celebration, and Angela Gonzales Mejia of Channelview is |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | marking that special milestone on April 30, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Augustine and Leonor Rios, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | former Angela Rios was born in 1953, and she grew up in the town of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Three Rivers; she eventually became the proud mother of six |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | children, April, Enrique, Usbaldo, Sonya, Antonia, and Moises, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | over the years, she has had the pleasure of welcoming into her |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | family 29 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Mejia enjoyed a rewarding career with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Southwestern Bell that spanned three decades before her retirement, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and she was an active and longtime member of the Communications |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Workers of America union; she has also served as president of her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | local chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and she was a member of the organization's national executive board |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for four years; engaged in politics, she has volunteered with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | numerous campaigns for candidates at the county, state, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | national levels; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | know her, Angela Mejia may reflect with great satisfaction on a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join her many |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | friends and loved ones in honoring her on this memorable occasion; |
