| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Band of the Hills is celebrating its 25th |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | anniversary on May 21, 2023, with a concert at Vista Ridge High |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | School Performing Arts Center in Cedar Park; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Formed in 1998 with a core group of 18 musicians, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Band of the Hills is an ensemble of wind and percussion players from |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Pflugerville, and the surrounding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | area; the band is a non-audition, volunteer organization for those |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | who enjoy performing music for residents of Williamson County and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | other Central Texas communities; its concerts are free to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | public; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the ensemble has grown to more than |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 100 members, including retirees, students, business owners, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | people who work in a wide range of professions, from education to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the corporate world; since its inception, the band has been |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | directed by Bob Dalrymple, a retired music educator whose students |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | won numerous competitions during his long career, which included |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | two decades with the Round Rock Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Band of the Hills entertains crowds in a variety of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | settings, including holiday celebrations and festivals as well as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | formal concerts; its repertoire has a wide appeal, with a mix of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | seasonal favorites and such traditional styles as big band, show |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | tunes, marches, and classical music; a member of the national |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Association of Concert Bands, the group also belongs to the Cedar |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Park and Leander Chambers of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Band of the Hills has |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | enriched the cultural life of Williamson County by providing a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | creative outlet for its members and allowing them to share the joy |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of live music with their fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Band of the Hills on its 25th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | anniversary and extend to all those associated with the ensemble |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|---|
