5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Moak has demonstrated an outstanding |

6 | 6 | | commitment to improving public education in Texas, and he is indeed |
---|
7 | 7 | | deserving of special recognition for his many contributions; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Moak enjoyed a rewarding career as a managing |
---|
9 | 9 | | partner of public school consulting firm Moak Casey that spanned 24 |
---|
10 | 10 | | years before his retirement in 2022, and he continues to serve the |
---|
11 | 11 | | organization as a consultant; over the course of his tenure with the |
---|
12 | 12 | | firm, he has played an instrumental role in numerous education |
---|
13 | 13 | | finance policy changes and has developed research for major cases |
---|
14 | 14 | | involving public school finance; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Respected in his profession, Mr. Moak has held |
---|
16 | 16 | | senior staff positions with the Texas Education Agency, the Texas |
---|
17 | 17 | | State Comptroller's Office, and the Texas Lieutenant Governor's |
---|
18 | 18 | | Office; he has served on the boards of the National Education |
---|
19 | 19 | | Finance Academy and the Association for Education Finance and |
---|
20 | 20 | | Policy and been involved with the Government Finance Officers |
---|
21 | 21 | | Association, the Association of School Business Officials, and the |
---|
22 | 22 | | American Educational Research Association; in addition, he has been |
---|
23 | 23 | | a member of the Paramount Theatre advisory council and the Lady Bird |
---|
24 | 24 | | Johnson Wildflower Center's Lady Bird Society; among his honors, he |
---|
25 | 25 | | has received a NEFA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Region 4 |
---|
26 | 26 | | Education Service Center Superintendent's Award; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Moak holds a bachelor's degree from The |
---|
28 | 28 | | University of Texas at Austin, where he also pursued graduate |
---|
29 | 29 | | studies; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor of vital importance |
---|
31 | 31 | | to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State, and through his |
---|
32 | 32 | | wide-ranging expertise in finance and public policy, Lynn Moak has |
---|
33 | 33 | | made valuable contributions to school districts all across Texas; |
---|
34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend Lynn Moak for his efforts to further |
---|
37 | 37 | | public education in Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
