| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since the inception of the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant |

| 6 | 6 | | five decades ago, Miss Rodeo Texas has served as a vibrant goodwill |

| 7 | 7 | | ambassador of rodeo and has worked to keep our state's Western |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | heritage alive and flourishing; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, Miss Rodeo Texas, Inc., hosts a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | scholarship pageant that consists of horsemanship, appearance, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | personality competitions where contestants compete against other |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | finalists from across the state; the organization strives to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | maintain an enriching environment for all participants and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | committee members, and the winners are provided with an educational |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | scholarship and support as they represent Texas, the sport of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | professional rodeo, and the Western apparel industry; furthermore, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the winner goes on to compete in the national Miss Rodeo America |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | competition; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, During her reign, Miss Rodeo Texas travels |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | throughout the state educating others on the importance of Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | agriculture and the significant impact that our rich Western |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | heritage has had on our state's development; in addition, she works |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | closely with professional rodeos and rodeo associations to help |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | keep the Western industry thriving; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The Miss Rodeo Texas program celebrates a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | significant part of the Lone Star State's storied history, and it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provides young women with the opportunity to develop their talents |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and interpersonal skills and to achieve their educational goals; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 23, 2023, as Miss Rodeo Texas Day. |
