5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |

7 | 7 | | of Johanna Douglas Guzman, who passed away on February 7, 2023, at |
---|
8 | 8 | | the age of 70; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former "Jobie" Douglas was born to Edward and |
---|
10 | 10 | | Maxine Douglas on January 27, 1953, in Corpus Christi, and she grew |
---|
11 | 11 | | up with two brothers, Edward and Paul; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Guzman was employed for more than three decades |
---|
13 | 13 | | with Texas Associates Insurors, where she found great fulfillment |
---|
14 | 14 | | in her work and made many dear friends; in her leisure time, she |
---|
15 | 15 | | liked gardening, playing softball, and watching baseball; a woman |
---|
16 | 16 | | of faith, she participated in the Altar Guild at Christ Episcopal |
---|
17 | 17 | | Church; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Guzman enjoyed the love |
---|
19 | 19 | | and support of her husband, Richard Guzman, and she took great pride |
---|
20 | 20 | | in her children, Jennifer and Rick; with the passing years, she had |
---|
21 | 21 | | the privilege of becoming "Nonna" to her five grandchildren, |
---|
22 | 22 | | Anthony, Hannah, Kiersten, Jacqueline, and Kaylin, as well as a |
---|
23 | 23 | | great-granddaughter, Ella; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, While her loss is difficult to bear, Jobie Guzman |
---|
25 | 25 | | leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
---|
26 | 26 | | richer for having known her, and she will always hold a treasured |
---|
27 | 27 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Johanna Douglas |

30 | 30 | | Guzman and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: |

31 | 31 | | to her husband, Richard Guzman; to her daughter, Jennifer Guerrero, |

32 | 32 | | and son-in-law, Lance Guerrero; to her son, Richard Guzman, and |

33 | 33 | | daughter-in-law, Tia Guzman; to her grandchildren, Anthony, |
