44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Frances Geraldine Wilson of Leander on March 31, 2023, at
77 the age of 97; and
88 WHEREAS, The daughter of Thomas Wesley Cox and Effie Margaret
99 Cox, the former Jeri Cox was born in Lockney on September 25, 1925;
1010 she grew up with three sisters, Queenie, Reta, and Linda, and two
1111 brothers, Kenneth and Robert; after graduating from Stephen F.
1212 Austin High School in Austin, she attended Mary Hardin-Baylor
1313 College; she wed Robert "Bob" Wilson Jr. in May 1946, and they were
1414 blessed with a son, Tommy, and a daughter, Patricia; while her
1515 children were young, she devoted herself to her family and their
1616 home in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin; she later
1717 worked at Austin Stationery, The University of Texas Baptist
1818 Student Union, Hyde Park Baptist Church, and Skyview Baptist
1919 Church; in 1963, the Wilsons relocated to Rosanky; and
2020 WHEREAS, Sustained by a strong faith, Mrs. Wilson gave freely
2121 of her time and talents to the churches where her husband was
2222 pastor; she served in the nursery, as a GA leader, and as a Sunday
2323 school teacher, and she was a mentor to many; in her leisure time,
2424 she enjoyed bird watching, growing flowers, playing Scrabble, and
2525 passing along her skill in tatting; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilson and her husband shared a fulfilling
2727 marriage of 63 years until his death; she took great pride in her
2828 three grandchildren, as well as her seven great-grandchildren and
2929 great-great-granddaughter; the treasured matriarch of the Cox
3030 cousins, she was affectionately known as Aunt Jeri or "Nein Nein" to
3131 her numerous nieces and nephews; she loved sending cards to family
3232 and friends and never forgot a birthday or anniversary; in
3333 addition, she sent words of encouragement through card ministries
3434 at her churches; and
3535 WHEREAS, Although Jeri Wilson is deeply missed by those she
3636 left behind, the passage of time will never diminish the joy and
3737 kindness she brought into their lives, and they will forever hold
3838 her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4040 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frances Geraldine
4141 Wilson and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
4242 to her children, Tommy Wilson and his wife, Blenda, and Patricia
4343 Widner; to her grandchildren, Angie Ruth and her husband, Steve,
4444 Trenton Widner, and Gerald Widner and his wife, Aimee; to her
4545 great-grandchildren, Callie McPherson and her husband, Logan,
4646 Casey Ruth, Kyle Ruth, Bentley Widner, Shawn Jewett, Aurora Widner,
4747 and Beaux Widner; to her great-great-granddaughter, Jolie
4848 McPherson; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it
4949 further
5050 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5151 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
5252 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frances
5353 Geraldine "Jeri" Wilson.
