5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Frances Geraldine Wilson of Leander on March 31, 2023, at |

7 | 7 | | the age of 97; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Thomas Wesley Cox and Effie Margaret |
---|
9 | 9 | | Cox, the former Jeri Cox was born in Lockney on September 25, 1925; |
---|
10 | 10 | | she grew up with three sisters, Queenie, Reta, and Linda, and two |
---|
11 | 11 | | brothers, Kenneth and Robert; after graduating from Stephen F. |
---|
12 | 12 | | Austin High School in Austin, she attended Mary Hardin-Baylor |
---|
13 | 13 | | College; she wed Robert "Bob" Wilson Jr. in May 1946, and they were |
---|
14 | 14 | | blessed with a son, Tommy, and a daughter, Patricia; while her |
---|
15 | 15 | | children were young, she devoted herself to her family and their |
---|
16 | 16 | | home in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin; she later |
---|
17 | 17 | | worked at Austin Stationery, The University of Texas Baptist |
---|
18 | 18 | | Student Union, Hyde Park Baptist Church, and Skyview Baptist |
---|
19 | 19 | | Church; in 1963, the Wilsons relocated to Rosanky; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Sustained by a strong faith, Mrs. Wilson gave freely |
---|
21 | 21 | | of her time and talents to the churches where her husband was |
---|
22 | 22 | | pastor; she served in the nursery, as a GA leader, and as a Sunday |
---|
23 | 23 | | school teacher, and she was a mentor to many; in her leisure time, |
---|
24 | 24 | | she enjoyed bird watching, growing flowers, playing Scrabble, and |
---|
25 | 25 | | passing along her skill in tatting; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilson and her husband shared a fulfilling |
---|
27 | 27 | | marriage of 63 years until his death; she took great pride in her |
---|
28 | 28 | | three grandchildren, as well as her seven great-grandchildren and |
---|
29 | 29 | | great-great-granddaughter; the treasured matriarch of the Cox |
---|
30 | 30 | | cousins, she was affectionately known as Aunt Jeri or "Nein Nein" to |
---|
31 | 31 | | her numerous nieces and nephews; she loved sending cards to family |
---|
32 | 32 | | and friends and never forgot a birthday or anniversary; in |
---|
33 | 33 | | addition, she sent words of encouragement through card ministries |
---|
34 | 34 | | at her churches; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Although Jeri Wilson is deeply missed by those she |
---|
36 | 36 | | left behind, the passage of time will never diminish the joy and |
---|
37 | 37 | | kindness she brought into their lives, and they will forever hold |
---|
38 | 38 | | her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frances Geraldine |
