| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Chris Koetting is retiring as head football coach at |

| 6 | 6 | | Canadian High School in 2023, drawing to a close an exceptional |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | career in education and school athletics that has spanned more than |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | three decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After taking the reins of the Canadian program in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | advance of the 2010 season, Coach Koetting guided the Wildcats to a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 164-25 record in 13 campaigns; his players claimed back-to-back |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University Interscholastic League 2A Division 1 state |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | championships in 2014 and 2015 as well as the 3A Division 2 title in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 2020, when he was selected as the Press Pass Sports Football Coach |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of the Year; a perennial playoff contender, the team posted an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | outstanding 49-10 record in the postseason during his tenure and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | advanced to the state finals in 2018 and the semifinals in 2010, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing the football program, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Coach Koetting has also served as a teacher and as the athletic |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | director for the school district; a graduate of Panhandle High |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | School, he began his career as an assistant coach at Perryton High |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in 1992 and went on to coach at Lockhart and Hereford High Schools; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in 2003, he joined the Canadian coaching staff as offensive |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | coordinator before becoming head coach; in all his endeavors, he |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | benefits from the love and support of his wife, Rosemary, and his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | children, Lauren, Bill, and Jack; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Chris Koetting has served as an inspiring mentor and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | role model to countless young Texans, helping them to excel both on |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and off the gridiron, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | many achievements during his years at Canadian High School; now, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Koetting on his retirement as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | head football coach at Canadian High School and extend to him |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
