| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The San Leon Municipal Utility District is hosting a |

| 6 | 6 | | dedication ceremony on February 24, 2023, to name a water tower in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | honor of the late Joseph Lynn Manchaca; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Mr. Manchaca |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | served as president of San Leon MUD for 16 years, and under his able |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | leadership, the district secured funding for the area's water |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | tower; Mr. Manchaca also gave generously of his time and talents as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | vice president of the Dwane Caldwell Military Scholarship and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Charity Foundation and as chaplain of the Sons of the American |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Legion, and he was a lifetime member of the San Leon Fire |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Department; in addition, he volunteered with the Sisters Helping |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sisters Brotherhood and with the San Leon Yard Birds; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Manchaca's professional achievements included |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | establishing his own vehicle repair shop, working for Satellite |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Logistics Group, and serving as North American director of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | warehouse operations for the international logistics firm |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Hillebrand; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Joseph Lynn Manchaca set an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | inspiring example of civic engagement and public service, and the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | naming of the water tower in his honor is a fitting tribute to his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | significant contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the San Leon |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Municipal Utility District water tower in memory of Joseph Lynn |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Manchaca and commend all those involved in securing this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | designation for their efforts. |
