| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Tyler Mathieson, a junior at Melissa High School, |

| 7 | 7 | | Contest at the SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference, |

| 8 | 8 | | which was held in Corpus Christi from March 30 to April 1, 2023; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit education |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | association that provides training programs and opportunities to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | students preparing for careers in trade, technical, and service |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | occupations; each year, thousands of students across the country |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | demonstrate their abilities at SkillsUSA competitions in the hopes |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of advancing to the national finals; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, With his impressive showing at the Texas Leadership |

| 16 | 16 | | and Skills Conference, Mr. Mathieson became the first student from |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Melissa High School to take top honors at a SkillsUSA state |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | competition; he previously honed his abilities by completing |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | technology courses in the Melissa ISD Career and Technical |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Education program, and he has earned first- and second-place |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | finishes at UIL state competitions; he will go on to represent the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state of Texas at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in June; and |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to excellence, |

| 25 | 25 | | Tyler Mathieson has won great distinction for himself and his |

| 26 | 26 | | school, and he may indeed take pride in this outstanding |

| 27 | 27 | | achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
