| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rick McDaniel retired as superintendent of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | McKinney Independent School District in 2023, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | exemplary career in public education that spanned 35 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McDaniel initially worked for the Tyler |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Independent School District for some two decades, serving as a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | classroom teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | joined McKinney ISD in 2006, when he became the first principal of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | McKinney Boyd High School, and under his leadership, the campus |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | achieved success in academics, fine arts, and athletics; in January |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 2014, he was promoted to assistant superintendent of student |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | services for the district, and soon after, he was appointed as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | superintendent of schools; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Dr. McDaniel has earned numerous |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | accolades, including the Texas Music Educators Association |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Distinguished Administrator Award and the Science Teachers |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Association of Texas Distinguished Leadership in Science Award; he |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | holds a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a master's degree from The University of Texas at Tyler, and a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | doctorate from the University of North Texas; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, expertise, and commitment |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to excellence, Rick McDaniel has helped countless young Texans |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to come; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Rick McDaniel on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | retirement as superintendent of the McKinney Independent School |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
