5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an incalculable loss |

6 | 6 | | with the tragic passing of Amerie Jo Garza of Uvalde on |

7 | 7 | | May 24, 2022, at the age of 10; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Uvalde on May 10, 2012, Amerie Garza was |

9 | 9 | | cherished deeply by her parents, Kimberly Garcia and Alfred Garza |
---|
10 | 10 | | III; she was a doting sister to her little brother, Zayne, and her |
---|
11 | 11 | | loving family further included her stepfather, Angel, and her |
---|
12 | 12 | | father's partner, Viviana, as well as her grandparents, aunts, |
---|
13 | 13 | | uncles, and numerous cousins; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Amerie, a kind and gentle girl with a lively |
---|
15 | 15 | | attitude, could light up a room with her presence; she treasured the |
---|
16 | 16 | | time she spent with her loved ones, and in addition to excelling at |
---|
17 | 17 | | school as an honor roll student, she was a dedicated member of the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Girl Scouts who took great pride in the badges she earned; she had a |
---|
19 | 19 | | passion for drawing, painting, and working with clay, and her dream |
---|
20 | 20 | | was to one day turn her creativity into a career as an art teacher; |
---|
21 | 21 | | though young, she had demonstrated the courage to stand up for |
---|
22 | 22 | | others, and she was posthumously honored for her bravery with the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Girl Scouts' Bronze Cross award; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a heart of gold and an indomitable |
---|
25 | 25 | | spirit, Amerie Garza is profoundly missed, and the memories she has |
---|
26 | 26 | | left behind will forever be treasured by all who were privileged to |
---|
27 | 27 | | share in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it |
---|
28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Amerie Jo Garza and |
