55 WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an incalculable loss
66 with the tragic passing of Amerie Jo Garza of Uvalde on
77 May 24, 2022, at the age of 10; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Uvalde on May 10, 2012, Amerie Garza was
99 cherished deeply by her parents, Kimberly Garcia and Alfred Garza
1010 III; she was a doting sister to her little brother, Zayne, and her
1111 loving family further included her stepfather, Angel, and her
1212 father's partner, Viviana, as well as her grandparents, aunts,
1313 uncles, and numerous cousins; and
1414 WHEREAS, Amerie, a kind and gentle girl with a lively
1515 attitude, could light up a room with her presence; she treasured the
1616 time she spent with her loved ones, and in addition to excelling at
1717 school as an honor roll student, she was a dedicated member of the
1818 Girl Scouts who took great pride in the badges she earned; she had a
1919 passion for drawing, painting, and working with clay, and her dream
2020 was to one day turn her creativity into a career as an art teacher;
2121 though young, she had demonstrated the courage to stand up for
2222 others, and she was posthumously honored for her bravery with the
2323 Girl Scouts' Bronze Cross award; and
2424 WHEREAS, Blessed with a heart of gold and an indomitable
2525 spirit, Amerie Garza is profoundly missed, and the memories she has
2626 left behind will forever be treasured by all who were privileged to
2727 share in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2929 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Amerie Jo Garza and
3030 extend deepest condolences to the members of her family: to her
3131 father, Alfred Garza III, and his partner, Viviana Granados; to her
3232 mother, Kimberly Garcia, and her husband, Angel Garza; to her
3333 brother, Zayne Garza; to her grandparents, Alfredo Garza Jr., Dora
3434 Mendoza and her husband, Fidencio Garcia, Berlinda Arreola and her
3535 husband, Ponciano, and Joe Garza and his wife, Gracie; to her aunts,
3636 Laura Garza, Vivian Garcia, Victoria Garcia, Desirae Garza, and
3737 Sara Garza; to her uncles, Jose Martinez, Fidencio Garcia Jr.,
3838 Christopher Carbajal, Joe Garza Jr., and Jeremy Garza; to her
3939 cousins; and to the countless others in Uvalde and beyond who mourn
4040 her passing; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
4444 Amerie Garza.
