| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Tess Marie Mata of Uvalde on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | May 24, 2022, at the age of 10, has profoundly saddened the many |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | people who loved and cherished her; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Tess Mata was born in San Antonio on February 6, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 2012, to Jerry and Veronica Mata; she shared a close bond with her |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | older sister, Faith, and she also enjoyed the affection of her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | grandparents, aunt, uncles, and numerous cousins; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, An athletic young girl, Tess played softball and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | soccer and competed in gymnastics; she was an avid fan of the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Houston Astros and especially of second baseman José Altuve, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | she even shared the same position as her favorite player on her |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | softball team; though feisty and outspoken, she was also blessed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with a caring heart, and she dreamed of one day having a career in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the medical field; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of Tess Mata is an incalculable |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | loss to those who held her dear, they may find comfort in knowing |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that their lives were forever enriched by the joy and love she |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | shared with them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tess Marie Mata and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | parents, Jerry and Veronica Mata; to her sister, Faith Mata; to her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | grandparents, Raymundo and Rosemary Mata and Anna Hill; to her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | aunt, Victoria Streeter; to her uncles, Robert Hill, Mark Mata, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Ray Mata Jr.; to her cousins, Nevaeh Streeter, Saige Rodgers, Kara |
