5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

6 | 6 | | by the family and friends of Alexandria Aniyah Rubio of Uvalde, who |

7 | 7 | | passed away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 10; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio, who was affectionately known as |
---|
9 | 9 | | "Lexi," was born in Hondo on October 20, 2011, to Kimberly |
---|
10 | 10 | | Mata-Rubio and Felix Rubio; she shared a loving bond with her two |
---|
11 | 11 | | sisters, Jahleela and Kalisa, and her three brothers, Julian, |
---|
12 | 12 | | David, and Isaiah, and she drew on the support of a large extended |
---|
13 | 13 | | family that included her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, |
---|
14 | 14 | | uncles, and cousins; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, An athletic and energetic fourth-grader, Alexandria |
---|
16 | 16 | | inherited her father's passion for playing softball and basketball; |
---|
17 | 17 | | they devoted many hours to their one-on-one practice sessions, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | Lexi relished the experience of winning a championship with her |
---|
19 | 19 | | youth basketball team last season; she also drew inspiration from |
---|
20 | 20 | | her mother, who was pursuing a degree from St. Mary's University in |
---|
21 | 21 | | San Antonio, and she hoped to one day enroll at the university |
---|
22 | 22 | | herself to study mathematics then attend law school; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Alexandria cherished the time she spent with her |
---|
24 | 24 | | family and friends, and some of her favorite activities included |
---|
25 | 25 | | baking cookies with her great-grandmother, exchanging jokes with |
---|
26 | 26 | | her loved ones, and curling up on the couch with a book; though she |
---|
27 | 27 | | possessed a sarcastic wit, she was also caring and generous, and she |
---|
28 | 28 | | had a beautiful smile that naturally progressed into hearty |
---|
29 | 29 | | laughter whenever she was around her siblings; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio was a source of immense joy to |
---|
31 | 31 | | everyone in her life, and although her loss is tremendously |
---|
32 | 32 | | difficult to bear, her memory will forever be treasured by all who |
---|
33 | 33 | | were blessed to know her; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alexandria Aniyah |
