44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 by the family and friends of Alexandria Aniyah Rubio of Uvalde, who
77 passed away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 10; and
88 WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio, who was affectionately known as
99 "Lexi," was born in Hondo on October 20, 2011, to Kimberly
1010 Mata-Rubio and Felix Rubio; she shared a loving bond with her two
1111 sisters, Jahleela and Kalisa, and her three brothers, Julian,
1212 David, and Isaiah, and she drew on the support of a large extended
1313 family that included her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts,
1414 uncles, and cousins; and
1515 WHEREAS, An athletic and energetic fourth-grader, Alexandria
1616 inherited her father's passion for playing softball and basketball;
1717 they devoted many hours to their one-on-one practice sessions, and
1818 Lexi relished the experience of winning a championship with her
1919 youth basketball team last season; she also drew inspiration from
2020 her mother, who was pursuing a degree from St. Mary's University in
2121 San Antonio, and she hoped to one day enroll at the university
2222 herself to study mathematics then attend law school; and
2323 WHEREAS, Alexandria cherished the time she spent with her
2424 family and friends, and some of her favorite activities included
2525 baking cookies with her great-grandmother, exchanging jokes with
2626 her loved ones, and curling up on the couch with a book; though she
2727 possessed a sarcastic wit, she was also caring and generous, and she
2828 had a beautiful smile that naturally progressed into hearty
2929 laughter whenever she was around her siblings; and
3030 WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio was a source of immense joy to
3131 everyone in her life, and although her loss is tremendously
3232 difficult to bear, her memory will forever be treasured by all who
3333 were blessed to know her; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alexandria Aniyah
3636 Rubio and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
3737 to her parents, Kimberly Mata-Rubio and Felix Rubio; to her
3838 siblings, Julian Rubio, Jahleela Rubio, David Falcon III, Kalisa
3939 Barboza, and Isaiah Rodriguez; to her aunt, Analyse Mata, and her
4040 uncle, Brandon Mendoza Sr.; to her cousins, Brandon Mendoza Jr.,
4141 Derek Mendoza, and Mary-Claire Mendoza; to her grandparents, Cindy
4242 Castillo and her husband, Victor, Ruben F. Mata and his wife,
4343 Larisa, and Connie and Luis "Chacho" Rubio; to her
4444 great-grandparents, Mary and Ruben Mata, Margie and Julian Moreno,
4545 Oralia Orona and Trini Gutierrez, and Jesse and Maxine Martinez; to
4646 her numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins; to her best
4747 friend, Sarah; and to the countless others in Uvalde and beyond who
4848 mourn her passing; and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alexandria
5252 Rubio.
