5	5	WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
6	6	by the family and friends of Alexandria Aniyah Rubio of Uvalde, who
7	7	passed away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 10; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio, who was affectionately known as
9	9	"Lexi," was born in Hondo on October 20, 2011, to Kimberly
10	10	Mata-Rubio and Felix Rubio; she shared a loving bond with her two
11	11	sisters, Jahleela and Kalisa, and her three brothers, Julian,
12	12	David, and Isaiah, and she drew on the support of a large extended
13	13	family that included her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts,
14	14	uncles, and cousins; and
15	15	WHEREAS, An athletic and energetic fourth-grader, Alexandria
16	16	inherited her father's passion for playing softball and basketball;
17	17	they devoted many hours to their one-on-one practice sessions, and
18	18	Lexi relished the experience of winning a championship with her
19	19	youth basketball team last season; she also drew inspiration from
20	20	her mother, who was pursuing a degree from St. Mary's University in
21	21	San Antonio, and she hoped to one day enroll at the university
22	22	herself to study mathematics then attend law school; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Alexandria cherished the time she spent with her
24	24	family and friends, and some of her favorite activities included
25	25	baking cookies with her great-grandmother, exchanging jokes with
26	26	her loved ones, and curling up on the couch with a book; though she
27	27	possessed a sarcastic wit, she was also caring and generous, and she
28	28	had a beautiful smile that naturally progressed into hearty
29	29	laughter whenever she was around her siblings; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Alexandria Rubio was a source of immense joy to
31	31	everyone in her life, and although her loss is tremendously
32	32	difficult to bear, her memory will forever be treasured by all who
33	33	were blessed to know her; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
35	35	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alexandria Aniyah
36	36	Rubio and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
37	37	to her parents, Kimberly Mata-Rubio and Felix Rubio; to her
38	38	siblings, Julian Rubio, Jahleela Rubio, David Falcon III, Kalisa
39	39	Barboza, and Isaiah Rodriguez; to her aunt, Analyse Mata, and her
40	40	uncle, Brandon Mendoza Sr.; to her cousins, Brandon Mendoza Jr.,
41	41	Derek Mendoza, and Mary-Claire Mendoza; to her grandparents, Cindy
42	42	Castillo and her husband, Victor, Ruben F. Mata and his wife,
43	43	Larisa, and Connie and Luis "Chacho" Rubio; to her
44	44	great-grandparents, Mary and Ruben Mata, Margie and Julian Moreno,
45	45	Oralia Orona and Trini Gutierrez, and Jesse and Maxine Martinez; to
46	46	her numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins; to her best
47	47	friend, Sarah; and to the countless others in Uvalde and beyond who
48	48	mourn her passing; and, be it further
49	49	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
50	50	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
51	51	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alexandria
52	52	Rubio.
