44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The life of a compassionate and dedicated educator
66 ended far too soon with the passing of Eva Mireles of Uvalde on May
77 24, 2022, at the age of 44; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on March 17, 1978, Eva Mireles was the
99 daughter of Paula Mireles and the stepdaughter of Santiago Moreno,
1010 and she grew up with two sisters, Maggie and Sandra; she graduated
1111 from Eagle Pass High School in 1996, before enrolling at Sul Ross
1212 State University and obtaining her bachelor's degree in
1313 interdisciplinary studies in 2003; and
1414 WHEREAS, Ms. Mireles held a special education certification,
1515 and throughout her nearly 17-year career, she was passionate about
1616 providing a quality education to students of all abilities; as a
1717 fourth grade teacher, she went above and beyond to ensure the
1818 happiness and well-being of her students, and along the way, she
1919 earned the heartfelt gratitude of many families in her community;
2020 she found immense fulfillment in helping her students succeed and
2121 was always proud to see them graduate; and
2222 WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Ms. Mireles was the
2323 beloved wife of Ruben Ruiz Jr., and they were blessed with a
2424 daughter, Adalynn; her favorite hobbies included CrossFit, hiking,
2525 and karaoke, as well as spending time with her dog, Kane; with her
2626 contagious smile and lively personality, she made every gathering
2727 all the more fun for everyone; and
2828 WHEREAS, Eva Mireles is profoundly missed by the many people
2929 she left behind, and they will forever treasure their memories of
3030 her kindness, her exuberance, and her devotion to her family and to
3131 her students; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3333 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Eva Mireles and extend
3434 heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her husband,
3535 Ruben Ruiz Jr.; to her daughter, Adalynn C. Ruiz; to her mother,
3636 Paula Mireles, and her stepfather, Santiago Moreno; to her sisters,
3737 Maggie Mireles Thomas and Sandra Sanders; to her mother-in-law,
3838 Cynthia Garza; to her aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and to the
3939 countless others in Uvalde and beyond who mourn her passing; and, be
4040 it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eva
4444 Mireles.
