| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The life of a compassionate and dedicated educator |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | ended far too soon with the passing of Eva Mireles of Uvalde on May |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 24, 2022, at the age of 44; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on March 17, 1978, Eva Mireles was the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | daughter of Paula Mireles and the stepdaughter of Santiago Moreno, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and she grew up with two sisters, Maggie and Sandra; she graduated |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from Eagle Pass High School in 1996, before enrolling at Sul Ross |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | State University and obtaining her bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | interdisciplinary studies in 2003; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Mireles held a special education certification, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and throughout her nearly 17-year career, she was passionate about |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | providing a quality education to students of all abilities; as a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | fourth grade teacher, she went above and beyond to ensure the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | happiness and well-being of her students, and along the way, she |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | earned the heartfelt gratitude of many families in her community; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | she found immense fulfillment in helping her students succeed and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | was always proud to see them graduate; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Ms. Mireles was the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | beloved wife of Ruben Ruiz Jr., and they were blessed with a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | daughter, Adalynn; her favorite hobbies included CrossFit, hiking, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and karaoke, as well as spending time with her dog, Kane; with her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | contagious smile and lively personality, she made every gathering |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | all the more fun for everyone; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Eva Mireles is profoundly missed by the many people |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | she left behind, and they will forever treasure their memories of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her kindness, her exuberance, and her devotion to her family and to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her students; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Eva Mireles and extend |

| 34 | 34 | | heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, |

| 35 | 35 | | Ruben Ruiz Jr.; to her daughter, Adalynn C. Ruiz; to her mother, |

| 36 | 36 | | Paula Mireles, and her stepfather, Santiago Moreno; to her sisters, |
