| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Cira Vera of The University of Texas at El Paso has |

| 7 | 7 | | president of external affairs of the Student Government |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The UTEP Student Government Association acts as the |

| 10 | 10 | | voice of the student body to the college administration, with |

| 11 | 11 | | elected members representing the interests and concerns of their |

| 12 | 12 | | peers and advocating for students' rights; the organization also |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | provides leadership and professional development opportunities as |

| 14 | 14 | | participants strive to improve the school's social and educational |

| 15 | 15 | | experience; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In order to foster positive change, the UTEP Student |

| 17 | 17 | | Government Association facilitates communication between students, |

| 18 | 18 | | administration, faculty, staff, and community organizations; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Student Government Association plays a valuable |

| 20 | 20 | | role in supporting The University of Texas at El Paso students as |

| 21 | 21 | | they develop a solid educational foundation for future achievement, |

| 22 | 22 | | and Cira Vera is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby commend Cira Vera for her service as vice |

| 25 | 25 | | president of external affairs of the Student Government Association |
