| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For more than six decades, Easterseals Rio Grande |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Valley has worked to provide essential services to individuals with |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | disabilities and their families; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV is an affiliate of the national |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | nonprofit Easterseals, which traces its roots back to 1919; the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | organization adopted its current name in 1967, following the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | overwhelming public support of its Easter "seals" fundraising |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | campaign; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Since its establishment, Easterseals RGV has been |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | committed to improving the quality of life for South Texans with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | disabilities, and its services include medical rehabilitation, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | early intervention, child care, and physical, occupational, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | speech and hearing therapy; today, the organization assists more |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | than 2,000 children and adults each year; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV currently offers a number of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | services and programs designed to help families in the Rio Grande |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Valley address life's challenges and instill in children the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | necessary skills and information needed to grow, learn, succeed, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and become engaged members of the community, including Parents as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Teachers, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SafeCare, Project HOPES, BridgingApps, and the Early Childhood |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Intervention program; the organization recently opened a new Family |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Resource Center that serves residents of Hidalgo County, and its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Child Development Center has earned a Four-Star rating from Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Rising Star; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV has excelled in its mission of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | enhancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | their families, and in so doing, it is building a more inclusive and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | equitable community for all; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Easterseals Rio Grande Valley for its |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | service and extend to all those associated with the organization |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | work; and, be it further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
