| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley has played an |

| 6 | 6 | | invaluable role in the local community in the nearly four decades |

| 7 | 7 | | since its founding; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A member of Feeding America and Feeding Texas, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is one of the largest regional, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | secular charities in South Texas, serving some 76,000 people, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | including children, seniors, and veterans, each week in Cameron, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Hidalgo, and Willacy Counties; dedicated to its mission, the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | organization maintains minimal overhead in order to direct 98 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | percent of its expenditures toward program services; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The food bank combats hunger through a variety of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | services, including mobile produce distribution, a nutrition |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | education program, and an emergency on-site food pantry; moreover, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the organization's certified case assistance navigators offer help |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in obtaining SNAP, Medicaid, CHIP, TANF, and Healthy Texas Women |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | benefits; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is making a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | meaningful difference in the fight against hunger, and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | organization and its supporters are to be commended for their |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | commitment to addressing a vital community need; now, therefore, be |
|---|

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley for |

| 29 | 29 | | organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their |
