5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Saul Mendoza has ably served his fellow Texans as |

6 | 6 | | chief of staff in the office of State Representative Terri |

7 | 7 | | Leo-Wilson during the 88th Legislature; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since joining Representative Leo-Wilson's staff, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Mr. Mendoza has handled a wide variety of challenging tasks and |
---|
10 | 10 | | assisted with the member's legislative agenda and her service to |
---|
11 | 11 | | constituents in Chambers and Galveston Counties; he joined the |
---|
12 | 12 | | staff after working for Representative James White, beginning as an |
---|
13 | 13 | | intern and aide during the 83rd Legislature and going on to become |
---|
14 | 14 | | legislative and communications director for the 84th Legislature; |
---|
15 | 15 | | during the 85th Legislature, he was named Representative White's |
---|
16 | 16 | | chief of staff, and over the course of his tenure, he assisted with |
---|
17 | 17 | | a number of bills focused on criminal justice and law enforcement |
---|
18 | 18 | | reforms; and |

19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Born in Ucareo, Michoacán, Mexico, Mr. Mendoza grew |
---|
20 | 20 | | up in Lufkin and studied Spanish literature at The University of |
---|
21 | 21 | | Texas at Austin; by the time he graduated in 2012, he had already |
---|
22 | 22 | | worked on the campaigns of Representative White and U.S. Senator |
---|
23 | 23 | | Ted Cruz and had served in the office of Representative Jim |
---|
24 | 24 | | Landtroop during the 82nd Legislature; he has also contributed his |
---|
25 | 25 | | time and energy to FreedomWorks and to the campaigns of State |
---|
26 | 26 | | Senator Konni Burton and Governor Greg Abbott; in 2014, he was proud |
---|
27 | 27 | | to become a naturalized citizen of the United States, and he was |
---|
28 | 28 | | named Best Legislative Director by Capitol Crowd in 2015; and |

29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Saul Mendoza has performed his duties as chief of |
---|
30 | 30 | | staff with skill and dedication, and he is indeed deserving of |

31 | 31 | | special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, be it |

32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Saul Mendoza for his service as chief of |

34 | 34 | | staff for State Representative Terri Leo-Wilson and extend to him |
