H.R. No. 1467
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Department of Computer Information Systems at
Texas A&M University-Central Texas in Killeen has been renamed to
honor Abdul Subhani; and
WHEREAS, Headquartered on the third floor of Founders Hall,
the department is part of the university's College of Business
Administration; its renaming recognizes Mr. Subhani's many
contributions to the institution, which include his service as an
adjunct professor, alumnus, and chair of the board for the
TAMU-Central Texas Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Subhani has enjoyed a rewarding career as the
president and chief executive officer of Centex Technologies, an
information technology consulting company; dedicated to his
community, he serves as a civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army
in the Texas Capital Region, and he is the president and founder of
the Subhani Foundation, which works to support other
community-based organizations and to promote the importance of
technology and science through outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, After immigrating to the United States from Pakistan
in 1998, Mr. Subhani graduated from high school and went on to earn
an associate's degree in computer science and information
technology from Central Texas College in 2003; the following year,
he received a bachelor's degree in computer technology from
Excelsior University, and in 2006, he earned a master's degree in
information systems from Tarleton State University Central Texas,
which later became TAMU-Central Texas; and
WHEREAS, Abdul Subhani has demonstrated a longstanding
commitment to the Texas A&M University-Central Texas community, and
the renaming of the Department of Computer Information Systems in
his honor is indeed a fitting tribute to his achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Abdul Subhani on the renaming of
the Subhani Department of Computer Information Systems at Texas A&M
University-Central Texas and extend to Mr. Subhani sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Subhani as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
