| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Riazul Mia retired as assistant city manager of |

| 6 | 6 | | Laredo on April 28, 2023, drawing to a close 27 years of public |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | service to the community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Mia worked for the city as director of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Environmental Services Department before transitioning to the role |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of utilities director, a post he held for five years; he was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | promoted to assistant city manager in the summer of 2020; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Among many significant achievements throughout his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | tenure, Mr. Mia collaborated with the council and management to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | resolve severe flooding problems in the city; he also led several |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | projects to provide or improve water utilities in rapidly |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | developing areas of Laredo, and he was the project manager and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | contract developer for a major public-private partnership for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | expansion of Bartlett Avenue; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Riazul Mia's dedication, expertise, and leadership |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | have greatly benefited the citizens of Laredo and earned him the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed reflect |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Riazul Mia on his retirement as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | assistant city manager of Laredo and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 29 | 29 | | prepared for Mr. Mia as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
