| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jenny Shepherd is the recipient of the 2023 June |

| 6 | 6 | | Bratcher Award for Political Action from the Texas Medical |

| 7 | 7 | | Association Political Action Committee; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The bipartisan political arm of the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Association, TEXPAC was established in 1962 to help elect |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | candidates at the local, state, and federal level who support the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | work of physicians in their communities; every other year, the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | organization presents the June Bratcher Award to individuals who |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | have demonstrated a strong commitment to the organization's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | mission; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A Patron Club member of TEXPAC, Mrs. Shepherd serves |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | as vice president of legislative affairs for the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Association Alliance and as a member of the American Medical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Association Alliance; she has held a number of leadership roles |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | with the Bexar County Medical Society Alliance as well, including |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | president and scholarship chair; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in grassroots advocacy, Mrs. Shepherd has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | hosted successful political fundraisers and events to increase TMA |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Alliance membership, served as a fundraiser and volunteer for the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | TMA Be Wise-Immunize and Hard Hats for Little Heads campaigns, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | coordinated a toy donation for the neonatal department at |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | University Hospital; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Shepherd enjoys the love |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and support of her husband, Dr. John Shepherd; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Jenny Shepherd has helped support members of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas medical community and their patients through political |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | education and activism, and she is indeed deserving of this notable |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jenny Shepherd on receiving the |
