44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Simon Alexander Clarich of Corpus Christi on November
77 18, 2022, at the age of 85; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Zenona Quintero and Christopher Clarich,
99 Simon Clarich was born on August 3, 1937, and grew up with four
1010 siblings, Annie Marie, Zenona, Chris, and Christine; he graduated
1111 from Roy Miller High School, where he excelled in track and hurdles,
1212 setting a state record and earning a place in the Buccaneers
1313 Athletics Hall of Fame; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Clarich demonstrated musical talent at an early
1515 age, singing duets with his brother; performing at countless
1616 events, he was always happy to grant requests for such favorites as
1717 "Sin Ti," "Wake Up, Little Susie," and "My Way," and he delighted
1818 people with his charismatic presence and quick wit, as well as his
1919 beautiful voice; he was employed at the Corpus Christi naval base
2020 before his retirement, having previously worked in sales at
2121 Spanish-language radio station KUNO and the Corpus Christi
2222 Caller-Times; and
2323 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clarich shared a
2424 fulfilling marriage with the love of his life, the former Norma
2525 Godoy, until her passing in 2018; he took great pride in his five
2626 daughters, Cynthia, Casilda, Criselda, Cinia, and Cassandra; in
2727 later years, he was blessed with 14 grandchildren, with whom he
2828 shared his love of fishing and golf, as well as 6
2929 great-grandchildren; he was a lifelong sports fan and especially
3030 enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and The
3131 University of Texas Longhorns; and
3232 WHEREAS, Simon Clarich is deeply missed by those he left
3333 behind, but they will forever remember the warmth, kindness, and
3434 joy he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Simon Alexander
3737 Clarich and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
3838 his daughters, Cynthia Clarich, Casilda Clarich, Dr. Criselda
3939 Clarich Leal and her husband, Amando, Cinia Clarich Montoya, and
4040 Cassandra Clarich; to his grandchildren, Celina Polanco,
4141 Dr. Natalie Villarreal, Yvette Polanco, Jason Fien, Candace Leal
4242 Hanson and her husband, Erik, Marcus Fien, Christopher Llewellyn,
4343 Krista Samaniego, Daniel Montoya, Alexander Llewellyn, Gabriela
4444 Montoya, Simon Samaniego, Cristina Llewellyn, and Claudia Leal; to
4545 his great-grandchildren, Sofia Hanson, Hektor Hanson, Annalissa
4646 Hanson, Camila Hanson, Derek Montoya, and Callie Montoya; to his
4747 sister, Annie Marie Ortiz; to his half-sister, Zenona Ortega; and
4848 to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Simon
5252 Alexander Clarich.
