8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Zenona Quintero and Christopher Clarich, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Simon Clarich was born on August 3, 1937, and grew up with four |
---|
10 | 10 | | siblings, Annie Marie, Zenona, Chris, and Christine; he graduated |
---|
11 | 11 | | from Roy Miller High School, where he excelled in track and hurdles, |
---|
12 | 12 | | setting a state record and earning a place in the Buccaneers |
---|
13 | 13 | | Athletics Hall of Fame; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Clarich demonstrated musical talent at an early |
---|
15 | 15 | | age, singing duets with his brother; performing at countless |
---|
16 | 16 | | events, he was always happy to grant requests for such favorites as |
---|
17 | 17 | | "Sin Ti," "Wake Up, Little Susie," and "My Way," and he delighted |
---|
18 | 18 | | people with his charismatic presence and quick wit, as well as his |
---|
19 | 19 | | beautiful voice; he was employed at the Corpus Christi naval base |
---|
20 | 20 | | before his retirement, having previously worked in sales at |
---|
21 | 21 | | Spanish-language radio station KUNO and the Corpus Christi |
---|
22 | 22 | | Caller-Times; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clarich shared a |
---|
24 | 24 | | fulfilling marriage with the love of his life, the former Norma |
---|
25 | 25 | | Godoy, until her passing in 2018; he took great pride in his five |
---|
26 | 26 | | daughters, Cynthia, Casilda, Criselda, Cinia, and Cassandra; in |
---|
27 | 27 | | later years, he was blessed with 14 grandchildren, with whom he |
---|
28 | 28 | | shared his love of fishing and golf, as well as 6 |
---|
29 | 29 | | great-grandchildren; he was a lifelong sports fan and especially |
---|
30 | 30 | | enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and The |
---|
31 | 31 | | University of Texas Longhorns; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Simon Clarich is deeply missed by those he left |
---|
33 | 33 | | behind, but they will forever remember the warmth, kindness, and |
---|
34 | 34 | | joy he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
