44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Brenda Marshall of the Corpus Christi Independent
66 School District received a 2023 Women in Education Award from the
77 Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding Women in
88 Education event on March 29; and
99 WHEREAS, Ms. Marshall embarked on her career with Corpus
1010 Christi ISD in 1986, and since 2004, she has served as senior
1111 director of athletics; over the course of her tenure, she has worked
1212 tirelessly to improve programs and facilities for the more than
1313 33,000 students in the district; and
1414 WHEREAS, A graduate of Ray High School, Ms. Marshall played
1515 softball for Team USA and at The University of Texas at Arlington,
1616 and she was the first woman named to the school's distinguished
1717 alumni hall of fame; in addition, she has been inducted into the
1818 Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor and has received the
1919 Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award from the National
2020 Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association; and
2121 WHEREAS, Brenda Marshall has set an outstanding example of
2222 leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is
2323 indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Brenda Marshall on her receipt of a
2626 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center
2727 Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
2828 in her important work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
