| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Brenda Marshall of the Corpus Christi Independent |

| 6 | 6 | | School District received a 2023 Women in Education Award from the |

| 7 | 7 | | Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding Women in |

| 8 | 8 | | Education event on March 29; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Marshall embarked on her career with Corpus |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Christi ISD in 1986, and since 2004, she has served as senior |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | director of athletics; over the course of her tenure, she has worked |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tirelessly to improve programs and facilities for the more than |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 33,000 students in the district; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Ray High School, Ms. Marshall played |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | softball for Team USA and at The University of Texas at Arlington, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and she was the first woman named to the school's distinguished |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | alumni hall of fame; in addition, she has been inducted into the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor and has received the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award from the National |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Brenda Marshall has set an outstanding example of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Brenda Marshall on her receipt of a |

| 26 | 26 | | 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |

| 27 | 27 | | Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
