| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Cynthia Hernandez of the Corpus Christi |

| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District received a 2023 Women in Education |

| 7 | 7 | | Award from the Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding |

| 8 | 8 | | Women in Education event on March 29; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, An 11-year veteran of Corpus Christi ISD, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Dr. Hernandez serves as coordinator of elementary curriculum and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | instruction and library media services; specializing in reading and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | early literacy, she has helped the district's students make |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | significant progress, in many cases exceeding regional and state |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | performance levels; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hernandez previously worked for the Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Education Agency, and she has also been employed in the offices of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | bilingual and ESL instruction and Title I services and compliance |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | at the Region 12 and Region 7 Education Service Centers; moreover, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | she served as the director for educational outreach for the Baylor |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | University Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics, and Engineering |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Research and as the director of institutional research at Tyler |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Junior College; she holds a master's degree in curriculum and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | instruction, and she earned a doctorate in educational |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | administration from The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Hernandez has set an outstanding example of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Cynthia Hernandez on her |

| 30 | 30 | | receipt of a 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education |

| 31 | 31 | | Service Center Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
