No. 1518 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker of the Calallen Independent School District received a 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding Women in Education event on March 29, 2023; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Walker currently serves as secretary of the Calallen ISD Board of Trustees, a position she has ably held since she was first elected in November 2014; over the course of her nine-year tenure, she has demonstrated tremendous passion for public education through her support of district staff and her efforts in legislative advocacy; furthermore, she organized "Stronger Together," a group of stakeholders who work to benefit Calallen youth; and WHEREAS, Alongside her duties as a member of the school board, Mrs. Walker is a successful business owner in the Corpus Christi area; her previous experience includes working as an English teacher at Calallen Middle School, where she has also served as president of the PTA; she holds a bachelor's degree in English and history from Texas A&M University; and WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker has set an outstanding example of leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Lori Jo Walker on her receipt of a 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Walker as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
