| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker of the Calallen Independent School |

| 6 | 6 | | District received a 2023 Women in Education Award from the |

| 7 | 7 | | Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding Women in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Education event on March 29, 2023; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Walker currently serves as secretary of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Calallen ISD Board of Trustees, a position she has ably held since |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | she was first elected in November 2014; over the course of her |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | nine-year tenure, she has demonstrated tremendous passion for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | public education through her support of district staff and her |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | efforts in legislative advocacy; furthermore, she organized |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | "Stronger Together," a group of stakeholders who work to benefit |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Calallen youth; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Alongside her duties as a member of the school |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | board, Mrs. Walker is a successful business owner in the Corpus |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Christi area; her previous experience includes working as an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | English teacher at Calallen Middle School, where she has also |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | served as president of the PTA; she holds a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | English and history from Texas A&M University; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker has set an outstanding example of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Lori Jo Walker on her receipt of a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |

| 29 | 29 | | Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
