5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bryan Bradford retired as the city manager of |

6 | 6 | | Garland on January 17, 2023, drawing to a close an exceptional |
---|
7 | 7 | | career in public service that spanned nearly three decades; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bradford joined the City of Garland staff in |
---|
9 | 9 | | 1994, and he distinguished himself in the roles of director of |
---|
10 | 10 | | organizational development, managing director of budget and |
---|
11 | 11 | | research, senior managing director, and assistant city manager |
---|
12 | 12 | | prior to his appointment as city manager on May 1, 2015; under his |
---|
13 | 13 | | leadership, Garland has experienced strong economic development, |
---|
14 | 14 | | and he guided the community through an array of challenges, |
---|
15 | 15 | | including natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Widely respected by his peers, Mr. Bradford is a |
---|
17 | 17 | | member of the International City/County Management Association as |
---|
18 | 18 | | well as the Texas City Management Association and the Government |
---|
19 | 19 | | Finance Officers Association; moreover, he has served on the board |
---|
20 | 20 | | of directors for the Garland Chamber of Commerce; he holds a |
---|
21 | 21 | | business administration degree from Abilene Christian University |
---|
22 | 22 | | and a master's degree in public administration from Texas Tech |
---|
23 | 23 | | University; he previously worked in the private sector as vice |
---|
24 | 24 | | president of the Linde Corporation and as the managing partner of |
---|
25 | 25 | | UNITS; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bradford and his wife, Teria, are actively |
---|
27 | 27 | | involved with several charities, including the Dillon |
---|
28 | 28 | | International adoption agency and Boles Children's Home; the couple |
---|
29 | 29 | | are the proud parents of two daughters, Shawnteé and Haleigh, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | retirement will afford Mr. Bradford the opportunity to spend more |
---|
31 | 31 | | time with his family and to pursue his passions for sailing and |
---|
32 | 32 | | reading; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Bryan Bradford's dedication, skill, and leadership |
---|
34 | 34 | | have greatly benefited the citizens of Garland and earned the |
---|
35 | 35 | | admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
---|
36 | 36 | | on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
---|
37 | 37 | | his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bryan Bradford on his retirement as |
---|
40 | 40 | | the city manager of Garland and extend to him sincere best wishes |
---|
41 | 41 | | for the future; and, be it further |

42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
