44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The boys' swim team of Tuloso-Midway High School in
66 Corpus Christi achieved great distinction at the 2023 University
77 Interscholastic League Swimming & Diving State Meet, held
88 February 9 and 10 in San Antonio; and
99 WHEREAS, Delivering an exceptional performance,
1010 Tuloso-Midway finished second overall in the 4A team competition
1111 and was especially strong in the individual events; Matteo
1212 Nisimblat claimed gold in the 100-yard freestyle race, and Tomas
1313 Betancour won the 100-yard butterfly, holding off silver medalist
1414 and teammate Gavin Gallimore; Alex Craig was second in the 200-yard
1515 freestyle, and Mr. Betancour and Mr. Nisimblat clinched respective
1616 bronze medals in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual
1717 medley; and
1818 WHEREAS, The Warriors also excelled in the relays, with the
1919 quartet of Mr. Gallimore, Mr. Craig, Mr. Betancour, and
2020 Mr. Nisimblat bringing home gold in the 200-yard freestyle event,
2121 and Mr. Gallimore, Riley Williams, Mr. Betancour, and
2222 Mr. Nisimblat garnering second place in the 200-yard medley relay;
2323 moreover, Zeke Adams, Gavin Lopez, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Craig
2424 placed fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay; and
2525 WHEREAS, Tuloso-Midway was also represented at state by
2626 Anthony Rios in 1-meter diving, Andrew Benavides in the 200-yard
2727 individual medley, and Ryan Rosenbaum in the 500-yard freestyle;
2828 and
2929 WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the talented members of the
3030 Tuloso-Midway roster benefited from the able guidance of head coach
3131 Anna Alaniz and assistant coaches Criselda Saenz and Izzy Soza; and
3232 WHEREAS, The Tuloso-Midway Warriors have excelled through
3333 skill, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to performing at the
3434 highest level, and they are a source of tremendous pride to their
3535 classmates and to their many supporters in the local community;
3636 now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3838 Legislature hereby congratulate the Tuloso-Midway High School
3939 boys' swim team on placing second in the 4A team competition at the
4040 2023 UIL Swimming & Diving State Meet and extend to the athletes,
4141 coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
4242 be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4545 House of Representatives.
