| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bryan Christian is retiring from the Leander |

| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District on June 19, 2023, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | exemplary tenure that has spanned two decades; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Christian is the director of bands at Vista |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Ridge High School, and under his able leadership, the marching band |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | claimed a state championship title and earned selection as a Bands |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of America Grand National Finalist in 2021; in addition, the band |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | has appeared as a featured ensemble at the Midwest International |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Band and Orchestra Clinic, and the group performed in the 2023 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Tournament of Roses parade; Mr. Christian has also helped the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | program garner the prestigious Sudler Shield International |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Marching Band Award and the Sudler Flag of Honor International |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Concert Band Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A leader in his field, Mr. Christian has served as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | vice president of Region 32 of the Texas Music Educators |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Association and as vice president of the Servant Leadership |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association for Music; he is also a member of the Phi Beta Mu |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | International Bandmasters Honor Fraternity; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, With his dedication, expertise, and commitment to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | excellence, Bryan Christian has earned the respect and admiration |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of his colleagues and students alike, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | pride on his many accomplishments as he begins the next exciting |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bryan Christian on his retirement |

| 30 | 30 | | from the Leander Independent School District and that he be |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | extended sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
