5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of Mitchel A. McCormick of Harlingen on |

7 | 7 | | July 15, 2022, at the age of 69; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of William "Mac" and Mary McCormick, Mitch |
---|
9 | 9 | | McCormick was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, on January 2, 1953, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | he grew up with the companionship of five brothers, Shelly, Wayne, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Steve, John, and Bill; as part of a military family, he lived in a |
---|
12 | 12 | | number of places around the world during his childhood, and he |
---|
13 | 13 | | graduated from Stuttgart American High School in Germany in 1971; |
---|
14 | 14 | | and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. McCormick |
---|
16 | 16 | | served in the U.S. Army for nine years, including more than five |
---|
17 | 17 | | years as a member of the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C.; he climbed |
---|
18 | 18 | | the ranks to become senior soloist on the Honor Guard's traveling |
---|
19 | 19 | | drill team, and he went on to serve in a mechanized infantry unit in |
---|
20 | 20 | | Germany for over three years; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, After receiving an honorable discharge, |
---|
22 | 22 | | Mr. McCormick held a variety of jobs before starting his career |
---|
23 | 23 | | with Domino's Pizza as a franchise area leader, and through the |
---|
24 | 24 | | years, he became the owner of six stores; during more than three |
---|
25 | 25 | | decades as a franchisee with the company, he ably led some of the |
---|
26 | 26 | | highest-grossing stores in the country; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. McCormick was devoted to his |
---|
28 | 28 | | family; he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Penni, and he |
---|
29 | 29 | | took immense pride in his sons, Travis, Lance, Davis, and Colin; in |
---|
30 | 30 | | his leisure hours, Mr. McCormick enjoyed reading, visiting the |
---|
31 | 31 | | beach, spending time with his family, and traveling with his |
---|
32 | 32 | | Stuttgart friends; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of Mitch McCormick brings great |
---|
34 | 34 | | sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
---|
35 | 35 | | be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mitchel |
---|
38 | 38 | | A. McCormick and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his |

39 | 39 | | family: to his wife, Penni; to his sons, Travis McCormick and his |

40 | 40 | | wife, Elizabeth, Lance McCormick, Davis Eubanks, and Colin Eubanks; |

41 | 41 | | to his siblings, Wayne McCormick and his wife, Delores, Shelly |
