| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Chief Ed Reynolds of the University of North Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | Police Department is retiring in May 2023, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outstanding tenure with the agency that has spanned nearly three |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating as valedictorian of his class at |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the UNT Police Academy, Chief Reynolds joined the department in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1994; over the years, he has served as a patrol officer, corporal, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sergeant, lieutenant, and deputy chief, and he was named chief of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | police in November 2015; under his able leadership, the department |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | has received accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for Law Enforcement Agencies and the International Association of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Chief Reynolds holds a master peace officer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | professional honors include selection as the Campus Safety Director |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine in 2018; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | excellence demonstrated by Chief Reynolds have greatly benefited |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the University of North Texas community and earned him the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admiration of his fellow peace officers, and he may indeed reflect |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Ed Reynolds on his retirement |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | from the University of North Texas Police Department and extend to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
