44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Chief Ed Reynolds of the University of North Texas
66 Police Department is retiring in May 2023, drawing to a close an
77 outstanding tenure with the agency that has spanned nearly three
88 decades; and
99 WHEREAS, After graduating as valedictorian of his class at
1010 the UNT Police Academy, Chief Reynolds joined the department in
1111 1994; over the years, he has served as a patrol officer, corporal,
1212 sergeant, lieutenant, and deputy chief, and he was named chief of
1313 police in November 2015; under his able leadership, the department
1414 has received accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation
1515 for Law Enforcement Agencies and the International Association of
1616 Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; and
1717 WHEREAS, Chief Reynolds holds a master peace officer
1818 certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; his
1919 professional honors include selection as the Campus Safety Director
2020 of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine in 2018; and
2121 WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
2222 excellence demonstrated by Chief Reynolds have greatly benefited
2323 the University of North Texas community and earned him the
2424 admiration of his fellow peace officers, and he may indeed reflect
2525 with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Ed Reynolds on his retirement
2828 from the University of North Texas Police Department and extend to
2929 him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Chief Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the
3232 Texas House of Representatives.
