| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Barrett Lee Rios of Scouts BSA Troop No. 8 in |

| 6 | 6 | | Kingwood has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |

| 7 | 7 | | accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |

| 9 | 9 | | bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mr. Rios earned the requisite 21 merit badges; he also successfully |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | completed an Eagle Scout project that involved constructing a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | memorial bench as well as storage shelving and a mobile scoreboard |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | at the Kingwood High School tennis courts; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The son of Chris and Heather Rios, this fine young |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | his scouting career, serving as a troop guide, historian, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | senior patrol leader; he is a recipient of the Arrow of Light Award, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and he earned a Bronze Palm and a Gold Palm; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rios has further distinguished himself as a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | student at Kingwood High School, where he has participated in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | tennis, orchestra, and German club; he plans to study history at The |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, and pursue an active duty |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | commission in the U.S. Army; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Rios's dedication to excellence and his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Barrett Lee Rios on achieving the |
