| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For the ninth consecutive year, the Pharr-San |

| 6 | 6 | | Juan-Alamo Independent School District has been designated as one |

| 7 | 7 | | of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National |

| 8 | 8 | | Association of Music Merchants Foundation; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Education designation recognizes school districts across the U.S. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for their outstanding achievements in providing access to music |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | education for all students; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD fine arts department |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | offers a range of award-winning music programs, including band, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | orchestra, choir, jazz band, conjunto, and mariachi; students |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | benefit from the able leadership of Jon Taylor, who serves as the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | district's director of fine arts; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD has created a learning |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | environment that nurtures the musical talent and creativity of its |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | students, and through its pursuit of excellence, the district has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | earned well-deserved status as a national model for music programs; |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo |

| 26 | 26 | | Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM |
