5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, James F. Hill II has received a 2023 Outstanding |

6 | 6 | | Texan Award for House District 111 from the Texas Legislative Black |
---|
7 | 7 | | Caucus; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of Ennis, Mr. Hill has enjoyed a rewarding |
---|
9 | 9 | | career with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department spanning three and a |
---|
10 | 10 | | half decades, and he currently serves as an engineer, paramedic, |
---|
11 | 11 | | command technician, field training officer, and district IT |
---|
12 | 12 | | manager; in addition, he is the commander of the honor and color |
---|
13 | 13 | | guards; since 2007, he has worked as a logistics specialist for |
---|
14 | 14 | | Urban Search and Rescue, Texas Task Force 2; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hill joined the International Association of |
---|
16 | 16 | | Black Professional Fire Fighters in 1986, and over the years, he has |
---|
17 | 17 | | benefited the organization as director of the South Central Region, |
---|
18 | 18 | | sergeant-at-arms, financial secretary, and executive vice |
---|
19 | 19 | | president; he also served two terms as president of the Dallas Black |
---|
20 | 20 | | Firefighters Association, becoming the longest-standing president |
---|
21 | 21 | | in the group's history; along the way, he has been active in a |
---|
22 | 22 | | number of other professional and civic organizations, including the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the NAACP, and the Carl Holmes |
---|
24 | 24 | | Executive Development Institute; moreover, he is a member of |
---|
25 | 25 | | Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas; in honor of his |
---|
26 | 26 | | outstanding service and professional achievements, he has received |
---|
27 | 27 | | numerous accolades, including recognitions from the Black Chief |
---|
28 | 28 | | Officers Committee of IABPFF, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., |
---|
29 | 29 | | the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, and Dallas BFFA; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hill enjoys the love and |
---|
31 | 31 | | support of his wife, Cynthia; he takes great pride in their daughter |
---|
32 | 32 | | Kristie, and he has had the pleasure of welcoming into his family |
---|
33 | 33 | | six grandsons, Evann, Jamison, Xavier, Joshua, Cole, and Chandler; |
---|

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Citizens benefit each day from the contributions of |

36 | 36 | | those civic leaders who improve the quality of life in their |
---|
37 | 37 | | communities, and House District 111 is indeed fortunate to have |

38 | 38 | | such passionate and engaged residents as James Hill; now, |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
